It’s a me… Mario!

Braving the snow and metro-north last night to get to my friend’s annual Halloween party at the Pig N Whistle.

Okay everyone, big news time! One I’ve been wanting to say for three months now.  Hmm… that makes it sound like my news is something else entirely.  Well, here it is: I quit my job.  Wahoo!  In 8 more (business days) my building access card will grace our “ex-employee” wall.

These are all the former employees since July. There are approximately 20 people at soon-to-be former job.  Just saying.

So I have a nice 4 day weekend and then it’s off to new job (or since I’ve been calling my current job “new job” on here, is it my new new job?).

The funny thing is, before I got an offer for new new job, I interviewed with their competitor for a lower position (than at new new job) in a department I wasn’t very excited about.  I disliked half of the people I interviewed with. And was told that I’d probably have to take a pay cut if I got the job. And then I didn’t get the job.  It actually went to a former colleague of mine.  When I found out I didn’t get the job, I was really upset.

I was still moping about several days later when I found out that I got an interview at new new job.  And I learned about the position.  And the company.  And I really loved every one I met during my interview.  My new boss actually was one of the people that  interviewed me back in 2003 when I got my first full-time job out of college, so I’ve worked with her before.

Thank goodness I didn’t get that first job.

Movie Trailer of the Day: The first official trailer for Illumination Entertainment’s big-screen adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s eco-friendly children’s book, The Lorax.

The animated film, which features the vocal talents of Zac Efron, Taylor SWift, Betty White, Ed Helms, and Danny DeVito, is set to open wide March 2, 2012.

I cannot even explain how excited I am by this movie.  By far my favorite of the Dr. Seuss books and I don’t think I’ve ever read it (even in recent years) without getting teary eyed at the end.

So I’m pretty sure it’ll be me and a bunch of 5 year olds waiting in line on March 2nd.

Congratulations to Adam and Eddy! The former LOST writers have a hit on their hands.

Once Upon a Time delivered 12.8 million viewers and a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating, improving a whopping 86 percent on the usual time period average of Extreme Makeover in the slot. That makes Once Upon a Time the highest-rated new drama series premiere of the season — bigger than ABC’s Revenge, CBS’ Person of Interest or Fox’s Terra Nova. (source: EW)

I’m so excited this is getting great reviews.  When I watched it I immediately thought, “this is so awesome, but it seems like the type of series that only I’ll like so it’ll get cancelled.”  Typical story of my life.

Please continue to prove me wrong!

It’s nice to meet you. There are lots of reasons we’re excited to be launching the Obama 2012 campaign’s new Tumblr today. But mostly it’s because we’re looking at this as an opportunity to create something that’s not just ours, but yours, too. We’d like this Tumblr to be a huge…
Reason #1 Barack Obama can/will get reelected: his staff uses the term “trolls” — AND knows what it means. Welcome to Tumblr, President O.

Obama for America: Hi, Tumblr.

Madison Square Eats

I’m so sad I didn’t learn about all the amazing food at Madison Square Park until it was in its last week.  This place was amazing! Basically there were food trucks from all around holding up (temporary) shop from lunch to dinner.  We stopped by after dinner at Eataly when it was raining out so there was no one there and all the stalls were closing up for the night.  But walking around, looking at the menus and noming on some speculoos covered waffles from Wafels and Dinges, I knew I’d be back.

So I dragged some of my coworkers down there for the rest of the week. But there was A LOT more people there this time around and we were in for long lines and a lot of jealous looks towards all the people kicking back with beer at lunch (note to self – don’t invite boss next time).

I went back to Wafels and Dinges to get de bacon and syrup wafel – pretty self explanatory, a bacon cooked into the waffle – with syrup on top.  Ah-May-Zing.

There was the combo grilled cheese and tomato soup from The Milk Truck.  The food was okay, I wanted a LOT more cheese in it. I think after drooling over Roxy’s Grilled Cheese while watching The Great Food Truck Race I was expecting the best thing ever in the entire world. I also think I’m just the pickiest person in the entire world about my grilled cheese as I apparently get let down by the best rated grilled cheese places around NYC.

By far the best thing I stuffed into my mouth was the lobster rolls from Red Hook Lobster Truck.  I know, I know, everyone on Tumblr has been yammering about this place for a long time, but I never listened.  In fact, I figured nothing could compare to Abbott’s, but this roll far exceedsed any lobster roll I’ve ever had.  I am going to be hunting down the actual truck very soon!
