Also, can I take a moment to disclose that I was super jealous of all the baby pictures posted of them wearing their “My First Thanksgiving” outfits. I am ALWAYS the worst at being prepared for things like the holidays. So I made sure that I wouldn’t be that way with Emma. Which is why when she was 1 week old I dragged myself to Carters and bought not only her “newborn” 4th of July outfit but her 6 month old Thanksgiving Outfit. 2 of them – so that no matter how cold/warm my house was… I was prepared.
And then as I have mentioned before whined on here for awhile now, she is definitely no longer wearing 6 month clothes. So I darted back to carters to pick up the same outfit in a different size this week. And nada. All sold out.
I figured the stars aligned the day before thanksgiving in terms of having Emma experience her first solid food. She was 5 months old, started to be interested in food, and I would be roasting and pureeing sweet potatoes for dinner anyway.
The results actually were way better than expected. Set the bar low, then you will always be pleasantly surprised. Also, make sure baby has a bib.
But onward to Thanksgiving… Despite only having my father-in-law for dinner plus the 3 of us (and Emma obviously doesn’t count when it comes to consuming food), we couldn’t find anything smaller than a 16 lb turkey, and then of course we needed all the sides…. and appetizers… I did at least decide to push off making my dessert until tomorrow.
Great job chef!
Obligatory Santa picture (at Stamford Town Center).
Santa told me that Emma wanted a Mercedes. Good luck with that one Emma! Caviar dreams my dear….
Taking out the trash. I took it out once during my maternity leave. It might have been 2 years since I had last done it.
I remind Ryan (the guy who takes it out every other day of the year) that I did this every couple of weeks or so.
I prefer my winter storms to share a name with adventure-loving Australian fish…. and not cutthroat killers from the Hunger Games.
Mililani outlasts Punahou, 53-45, to win its first state football title – Hawaii News – Honolulu Star-Advertiser
November 21, 2014 – The date that the last undefeated team (in Emma’s lifetime) we cheer for finally lost.
I’m not a huge sports fan but after spending the majority of my labor watching the Germany v. US World Cup game (and giving birth within the hour of our loss), I started monitoring the record of the teams I do (occasionally) cheer for to see who remained undefeated since June 26th..
First the Red Sox lost (to the Yankees no less) when Emma was 1 day old. Well Emma, you were born into Red Sox Nation – being disappointed comes with territory.
UH (you really can’t grow up in Hawaii and not cheer for the Rainbow Warriors) continued to be a disaster (they were 1-11 in the prior year) and lost their first football game.
The Packers also lost their first game this season.
BC’s football and basketball teams lost in their second games.
And finally the Buffanblu (yes, my high school mascot is in fact, a color) lost to the school that the majority of my cousins attended.. So I guess, if we had to lose, it might as well be to a great team like Mililani.
Sure would have been nice to be State Champions though…
I figured I should send out the birth announcements at least a week or so before the Christmas cards go out. #AlwaysLate #TheresAlsoOneAddressedToMickeyMouseInThere
