This week has been super crappy on the work front but it was all going to be okay because my team finished everything we needed to yesterday so today would be a nice relaxing day followed by a relaxing girls night at home since Ryan had a work dinner thing. Until heaps of more work got piled on me this afternoon. Uncool people uncool. In a prior life I would have said screw it – grabbed some friends and hit up happy hour to de-stress before tackling the new workload. In this life of baby and lack of friends, I picked up Emma and confused her by driving us to our Saturday sushi haunt two days early for a girls night out of our own. It was just what I needed.
And now back to that heap of new work. Sigh. I may open a bottle of wine and FaceTime my CT/NY friends this weekend to get my happy hour (of sorts) after all.
Tumblr buddy, thank you!!!!! And apologies for the last post because your present actually came towards the beginning of the week after making it through probably about 8 or so hurricanes to get to Hawaii (BTW I am soooo over hurricane season… but that is for a different post.) ANYWAY! You found the perfect gifts.
In my mind this was going to be an amazing shot with great lighting but what you don’t see in this picture is me quickly taking the picture with one hand while holding Emma back with the other as she kept grabbing for the scarf.
Emma loved the book AND bows. I’ll admit, I was actually shocked that she liked the latter. I LOVE LOVE LOVE putting her hair up, but Emma… not so much …. I am a mean parent and pretty much just bully her into it all the time. But this time after she yanked it off (as she typically does with any hair bows), she saw the rose, patted and kissed it, and then demanded that it get put back on her head. Crazy kid wore it to day care all day. YIPPEE!
As for the book, we have yet to get past page one because she is so into checking out if the elephant is still behind the flap every two seconds. At this rate the book may take half a year to read! It’s slightly annoying because I actually do want to know what other animals the zoo sent!
And as for the gorgeous scarf… it’s so perfect. It is supposedly only 85ish degrees outside, but with the humidity and vog it feels like a sauna. So the air conditioners are working overtime to stop everyone from melting and it feels like it’s 50-60 degrees inside. I pretty much wore this every day this week as the perfect bridge between OHMAHGAWD-why-is-it-so-hot and seriously-turn down-the-AC.
I do have one problem though, I don’t know if I missed it… but while I know your actual name now – I couldn’t find your tumblr username anywhere… I’d love to know who you are on here!
Around 3 months ago Emma went from scampering away (or scooting away on her butt) from me the second we got to daycare to being a clingy mess, always in tears in the morning and prone to causing her other toddler friends to melt down just by being around her.
Recently she’s gotten much better but it’s still a touch-and-go moment when I first set her down each morning as to how she’ll react. And then today happened. Today she was fascinated by a new kid that was melting down over his mom leaving (I feel your pains!). So fascinated that after calling out her name repeatedly to say good-bye the closest I got to an acknowledgement was that she finally raised her left hand and waved at me while still staring at the new kid.
An over the shoulder wave without even looking. Excuse me while I huddle into a ball and cry.
I know I know… the thought of giving a gift to someone should be what makes me the happiest about the whole process. But honestly, what makes me the happiest is when I check out at Amazon (because let’s be real…. there’s a 99% chance if I get you something, it’ll be from Amazon), it tells me the present will get there in 2 days.
2 Days. 2 DAYS! Free shipping! You mainlanders don’t know what an amazing concept that is!!!
