Get your facts straight people!!!

A lady Ryan works with knew Ryan was somehow related to my dad and asked if Ryan knew her nephew… Since her nephew was dating my dad’s oldest daughter.

The comment wasn’t so strange in theory since Hawaii is so tiny that everyone plays six degrees of separation all the time.

The comment was strange however because I am my dad’s oldest daughter. To summarize, a lady asked Ryan if he knew the guy dating his wife.

To Ryan’s credit, he told me that while he was definitely getting a name, he was pretty much 100% sure the lady was incorrect…

Seriously though, I know people cheat but who the hell has the time for shit like that… any free time I have in my life is spent collapsing in bed, exhausted…. or you know, looking up gifs for a tumblr post.

Turns out the lady’s nephew is dating my younger step-sister, and he goes by a nickname to his family members.

Ryan bent over backwards to make Mother’s Day the best ever…. But it pretty much sucked for me. Due to a crazy work project I’ve had to eat, sleep and breath since last November, I was going on only a couple hours of sleep a night for the last couple of weeks and any free time was spent working. Added to that was the fact that Emma hadn’t seen a lot of me and would be inconsolable if I wanted to say… Read a magazine… Watch a tv show…. Do anything relaxing…. You get the picture.

Well, last week Ryan was the one in the office late meaning that if he thought he would get a restful day of watching sports or reading a book today, he was sadly mistaken. An early morning errand he had planned to do alone now includes Emma in tow as the FIVE times I asked her if she would rather stay home with me was met with different versions of NO and actually trying to close the door on me with her dad and her on the other side.

So thankful I have a husband who does so much for both Emma and me. And thankful that he keeps it up, even on his supposed “day off” to make his daughter smile. And thankful that this morning, I used the bathroom in peace and quiet. Father’s Day may be the new Mother’s Day.

No end to my Hamilton obsession…

hawaiigurlinct:

There’s a super prestigious program at work that my team member is applying for and she needed me to write a letter of recommendation on her behalf. I may or may not have lifted words from Alexander Hamilton in my recommendation…

[She’s worked] a lot harder, by bein’ a lot smarter, by bein’ a self-starter….

I mean I really should get a boss of the year award for that rec, right?

My coworker received a call that she is one of the finalists in that prestigious program she applied for and the HR person she talked to said that one of the reasons she was in the running is because of MY awesome letter of recommendation. The next step is that she has a panel interview with the executive officers of the company. I offered to go with her and rap my support LMM-style but she turned me down.

But seriously, I feel that I am completely unbiased in restating that I am truly the best boss you could ever have. The most humblest too!

Proud Mama Moment

My typical guilt over plopping Emma in front of the TV in the morning so I can get ready for work in peace was escalated tenfold this morning when I switched it from her typical Disney Junior cartoons to the Tony Awards that I DVR’d last night.

And OMG she loved it! She squealed, she gasped, she laughed, she waved her hands side to side along with the dancers on the screen!

Looks like I have a future theater partner in my house. Which is great because it means that by the time she’s old enough to attend Hamilton, I may actually be able to afford it.
